The Race for the Cure returns to Matera’s Parco del Castello from 26 to 28 September, where participants can take part in sports, prevention, psychological well-being and entertainment activities free of charge. At the top of the list of initiatives is the non-competitive 5 km race and 2 km walk open to all, scheduled for Sunday with departure at 10 am from Via Lucana (corner of Via Gramsci). The inauguration of the Health Village will take place on Friday morning at 10 am and will host numerous activities. At the heart of the project is the prevention of breast and gynaecological cancers, with the integration of nutritional, physiotherapy, psycho-oncology and endocrinology consultations and specialist services open to all, promoted by Komen Italia in collaboration with healthcare personnel from the Matera and Potenza Health Authorities, the IRCSS Crob in Rionero, volunteer freelance doctors and with the contribution of the Johnson&Johnson Foundation.
A large area of the Castle Park will be dedicated to Donne in Rosa (Women in Pink), where specific initiatives and activities dedicated to their physical and psychological well-being will take place. In the conference area, meetings with students and in-depth discussions on Komen Italia’s projects carried out in the region will be organised, as well as conferences on topics related to the association’s mission.
