Starting today, December 2, the Single European Emergency Number – NUE 112 officially comes into operation in all municipalities belonging to the Matera telephone district (0835). This service allows citizens to contact all major emergency services via a single number in case of need.
Calls will be handled by the Single Response Center (CUR) with territorial jurisdiction for the Basilicata Region, which will identify the type of emergency, locate the caller, and immediately forward the request to the appropriate operations room, ensuring greater speed, efficiency, and accuracy of response.
However, during a transition period, any calls made to the traditional numbers will still be automatically redirected to the NUE 112, ensuring that the service remains fully operational without interruption.
