On Sunday 21 September, Matera will also host the “Italians’ Sunday Lunch“. This initiative is promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry (MASAF), the Ministry of Culture and ANCI as part of the application for Italian cuisine to be recognised as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Palazzo Malvinni Malvezzi, which will be transformed into an open-air setting for the occasion, will highlight Sunday lunch as a moment of identity and inclusion, capable of uniting different generations and recounting the richness of local traditions through food.

The initiative, which will be broadcast live on Rai 1 during the programme “Domenica In” (from Matera at around 3 p.m.), aims to transform this family ritual into a shared heritage, visible in the squares and recognisable as an expression of Italian culture.
