Together with Naples, Alghero and Turin, Matera is the protagonist of an innovative communication project signed by Disney. At the centre of the project is the filming of a promotional video, which will be broadcast from Tuesday 22 July on the eve of the official release of the Fantastic 4 film, which took place on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July, with various sets distributed across the old town centre, the Rioni Sassi and Piazza San Pietro Caveoso. Also central to the initiative was a temporary sculpture inspired by “The Thing”, the Fantastic 4’s rocky colossus. A homage in line with the city’s identity, skilfully expressed by stone, a founding element with architecture, landscape and collective memory. The installation was conceived as a contemporary reinterpretation of the famous number ‘4’, symbol of the Marvel group, created to express the power of the rock. The sculpture was placed in Piazza San Pietro Caveoso, in the centre of the districts recognised as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
