Next June 16, Matera Mayor Antonio Nicoletti will meet with Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli to finalize the program for Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue.

Matera and Tetouan are the cities chosen to represent the Mediterranean in 2026, a recognition that enhances the history and traditions of the two communities. The title of Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue translates into a series of initiatives aimed at promoting cultural and social exchanges.
For Matera, the mayor stressed the importance of involving the entire community, fostering opportunities for exchange and dialogue both locally and internationally.
