For the widest possible dissemination, the union ordinance on the subject is hereby transmitted:
THE MAYOR
WHEREAS, on 6 July 2025, Maria Di Pede and Giuseppe Carrino, both from Matera, aged 45 and 50, died in a tragic road accident;
NOTED that the funeral ceremony will take place on 8 July 2025 at the Church of Maria Santissima Annunziata;
this dramatic event has aroused deep emotion in the whole Citizenship;
the Municipal Administration, interpreting the common feeling of the Citizenship, intends to express, in a solemn form, the condolences of the City of Matera for this tragic event
CONSIDERING, therefore, that it is the duty to proclaim a public mourning as a sign of condolence for the tragic death of the couple and of sympathy for the grief of their families;
HAVING REGARD TO Legislative Decree No. 267/2000 of 18 August 2000, as amended and supplemented, and to the provisions of the Code of Ethics 267/2000 and ss.mm.ii;
PROCLAMS
mourning on 8 July 2025, the day on which the funeral will take place.
ORDERS
from the morning of 8 July 2025 the display of flags at half-mast on municipal buildings;
sporting associations, owners of commercial activities and public traders not to engage in any behaviour that conflicts with the spirit of town mourning from 09:30 to 11:30, in conjunction with the funeral ceremony;
the publication of this Order on the Municipality of Matera’s online notice board and that it be widely distributed to the citizens.
