The municipal administration announces that, starting tomorrow, Wednesday, December 3, 2025, some changes to traffic and urban public transport (TPU) will come into effect in the area of Piazza Matteotti and Piazza della Visitazione, necessary for the continuation and completion of the works related to the construction of the Intergenerational Park.
“The implementation of one of our city’s major projects continues: the redevelopment of Piazza della Visitazione and the creation of the new Intergenerational Park,” emphasizes Lucia Gaudiano, Councilor for Public Works. These measures, agreed upon with the Councilor for Mobility and Transport, Daniele Fragasso, and the Local Police, are an essential step in allowing the construction site to be set up and the work to be completed quickly.”

Citizens and public transport users are invited to take note of the following changes, which will be in effect starting December 3, 2025:

  1. Closure to traffic: Piazza Matteotti will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic to allow for the full construction of the site.
  2. Opening of the connecting road: The connecting road between Via Roma and Via Rosselli will be open to traffic.
  3. New TPU terminus: the terminus and stops for urban public transport previously located in Piazza Matteotti have been moved to the slip road adjacent to the Revenue Agency building (at the intersection of Via Roma and Via Rosselli).
  4. Route lines: the routes of the TPU lines coming from Via Roma and heading to Via Moro and Via Rosselli remain unchanged, passing through the new terminus.
  5. “As the municipal administration, we are fully committed to minimizing inconvenience and ensuring the rapid completion of this major project, which will give Matera a renovated and modern public space,” concludes Councilor Gaudiano, “and we therefore ask for a little more patience and cooperation from all citizens in complying with the new traffic regulations.”
