“This programme,” said the mayor, “is the result of a great synergy and an attempt to plan as many events as possible for a Christmas season in Matera that would also be attractive to tourists, despite the problems and uncertainties caused by the pandemic, which require us to be extremely cautious. I would like to thank the associations and operators who submitted their events, the Councillor of Culture who organised the programme and coordinated the operators, and the Culture and Tourism Office of the Municipality of Matera. We now hope for the utmost attention and care during this phase of the pandemic, since it is still a critical phase. In the event of special health needs or national safety measures, some events will be either rescheduled or postponed. We take this opportunity to wish everyone all the best for a happy Christmas on behalf of the municipal administration”.
On 30 November in the Mandela Hall of the Municipality of Matera, the programme of Christmas events 2021 for the city of Matera was presented by Mayor Domenico Bennardi and the Councillor of Culture, Tiziana D’Oppido. The programme includes more than 120 events selected from the “Destinazione Matera” call for proposals with the cooperation of the associations and cultural operators who submitted their events.
