It was published by the publishing house Franco Cosimo Panini, the guide “PIMPA VA A MATERA” to tell children about the town of Sassi and its wonders.

The dog with red dots of Altan accompanies the young readers through the streets of the town showing them wonders and mysteries, from “Sasso Barisano” to “Sasso Caveoso”, exploring the underground tunnels of “Palombaro Lungo” or walking through “Parco della Murgia Materana”. The itinerary was created in collaboration with the “Comune di Matera” </strongfor children, who can have fun and get to know our marvelous town with their parents.In the guide, Pimpa, Pimpa, helped by the whale Giuliana, one of the symbols of Matera, offers children  original and new paths, in a journey full of meetings.In the book you will find information on the traditions and history of the town and its monuments in an accessible and immediate language, suitable for those who have started reading independently. The comic strip, the narration, the idea to experiment, the photographic element together with the game, make“PIMPA VA A MATERA” a unique and fun guide, to make your own unforgettable memories.

Inside, the young reader might find many materials for recreation, such as stickersmemory cards, a goose game to detach and much more.

On the occasion of the launch of the guide, Friday, July 8, 2022, the Department of Tourism of the town of Matera will organize a full day dedicated to PIMPA and its explorations, in collaboration with the National Museum of Matera, with activities and events for the whole family, papier-mâché workshops, interactive games and animated readings. In addition, families will have the possibility to immerse themselves in prehistoric times thanks to a very special guided tour!

The goal is to thrill the children and involve them in a unique ‘tour’ to discover Matera, through the game – said the mayor Domenico Bennardi. The Pimpa guide is an opportunity that we could not miss to excite children, as future travelers, including foreigners, since it is also available in English, and ignite in them curiosity about the beauty of our town, UNESCO heritage. On July 8th, in the garden of the Ridola Museum, thanks to the collaboration with the Museum Centre, we will dedicate to children a very special exploration of the history and traditions of our town”.

The day will begin with the press conference to present the guide at 9.30 am in the garden of the Ridola Museum, in the presence of the Mayor, Domenico Bennardi, the Director of the National Museum of Matera, Annamaria Mauro and the publisher Maria Teresa Panini, CEO of the historic Italian publishing house, and will continue with the workshops until late afternoon. At 5.00 pm it will be possible to take part in the immersive guided tour dedicated to the prehistory of our territory.

Le famiglie sono invitate a recarsi nel luogo dell’evento mezz’ora prima dell’inizio delle attività.
I bimbi che parteciperanno riceveranno simpatici gadget di Pimpa.
